Freedom Of Information Law (FOIL) Request
A Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request is a request to obtain records/documents from New York State or local government agencies. The Freedom of Information Law (“FOIL”), set forth in Article 6 of the Public Officers Law (§§84-90), is designed to ensure public access to government records. Under FOIL, an agency must make records available for public inspection and copying, except to the extent that records or portions thereof fall within one or more grounds for denial.
Please remember, the more specific the FOIL request, the easier it will be for us to perform an expedient search and to locate responsive and relevant documentation.
Please note that FOIL requests are intended for obtaining records and are not suitable for comments or questions requiring a response.

Don't put personal information, like your Social Security number in your public request.
